Short-sleeved shirts 101

I think that one of the most, if not the most under utilized items when it comes to menswear is the short-sleeved shirt. As convenient and comfortable as it is, not too many guys take advantage of what it brings to the table. Today’s post will be about the short- sleeved shirt: HOW to wear it, WHEN to wear it and WHY you should own one.

β€’How to wear it:
Short sleeved shirts are inherently meant to be casual wear. Unlike their long-sleeved counterpart, short-sleeved shirts are very easy to style. All you have to do is think about these shirts as grown-up t-shirts or should I say t-shirts for grown ups. That means, if you were to wear any outfit with a t-shirt, you can throw on a short-sleeved shirt instead to make a more sophisticated and mature outfit.

When it comes to bottoms, short sleeved shirts go well with khaki pants, chinos and jeans but rarely formal pants- if ever. For a hot summer-like look, you can pair it with shorts for an almost-perfect look. For a perfect look, accessorize with a pair of cool sunglasses- of course.😎

For footwear, you could opt for sneakers as well as casual leather shoes like loafers but never lace up shoes.

β€’When to wear it:

Short sleeved shirts are meant for casual settings and occasions. You never want to wear one of these to a formal event unless it’s called for or is needed. Ideally, you want to wear these in casual settings like brunches, weekends, barbeques and casual outdoor events. Please don’t wear these to funerals or weddings? Please? ThanksπŸ˜‚ (Unless it is a beach wedding of course😎)

Oh! And did I mention that they are perfect for when you go on vacation?😎

β€’Why you should own one or two…or more:

1.Short sleeved shirts come in various colors and styles which means that there is a short sleeved shirt out there for each of us. You may not fancy my taste when it comes to these but you can surely find your cup of tea. Whether plain or patterned, there’s something for everyone. I just have a bias for/ toward colored and bold ones because they compliment my complexion really well unlike plain and dark ones that would look a bit boring in my opinion.

2.Another reason you should own one is because of the weather, the hotter the weather, the shorter the shirtπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚. Okay okay, not the shirt but the sleeves. The weather is definitely going to need you in a short sleeved shirt and you don’t want to miss out on the comfort and ease that comes with it especially when it is hot- which is often the case in December and January.

3.They are rarely worn amongst people our age. If you’re in your twenties or early thirties, then you know what I am talking about. Everyone is wearing t-shirts but when you pull this off, you will be sure to stand out amongst your friends and in general.

I could go on and on, trying to convince you to get one of these but that list would be endless. I hope the looks I put together in this blog post offer some outfit inspiration and ideas and even make you want to try one. Thank you so much for stopping by and reading this!😊
